Regulation
The trophy of the embassies is a competition approved by the F.F.T. for this fact, the federal rules of tennis is applied to this competition.
It is a competition by team, which counts the individual results.
The whole competition is being held, either over one weekend, or two according to the number of participants, qualifying days for the lowest ranking (Thursday and Friday)
Individual results will be sent to the French Tennis Federation for the calculation of the ranking season 2012. Therefore, they will be counted for the intermediate ranking of January 2012.
Each candidate represents, either an embassy, or an international organization based in Paris.
The performances of each candidate will be added up by teams.
Candidates must be available throughout all the competition. The absence of a player will lead not only to a W.O. but a withdrawal of a point to its team.
Sports Equipment
The competition takes place on clay, It is necessary to have suitable footwear to the surface. It will be strictly forbidden to compete without this minimum equipment.
The white outfit is normally the current uniform in all the French Tennis Federation. Yet, each team can put on a T-shirt with logo representing them.
Arbitration and judge arbitration
The competition is organized by an official sporting referee league in Paris. Supervisors will be designated by him in order to help to the smooth running of the entire competition. They will also be available to competitors for any arbitration issues/questions during the games.
Teams Ranking
Each competitor adds 5 points to his team. The winner of an event will bring in 1 bonus of 5 additional points to his team.
Double events special case..
In double, it is not necessary to belong to the same team. If they win, each member of the pair of the double will be awarded 2.5 points to his team.
At the end of the competition, will be declared the winner, the team which will have added up the highest number of points.
In the event of a tie, the greatest number of competitors of each team who brought back points, will be taken into account.
In case of further tie, the will be taken into account (difference between the number of sets won and the number of sets lost)
Organized categories/events are :
- Men’s singles
- Men’s singles +40 age
- Ladies singles
- Ladies singles +40 age
- Men’s doubles
- Ladies doubles
- Mixed doubles
Each competitor may enroll in one or two events. (For the cumulative singles and singles +40 age categories, it’s the referee judge who decides to accept these double categories based on the anticipated progress of the tournament.
Concerning the singles events, registration is mandatory before the competition.
Concerning the doubles ‘events, places are reserved for the competitors that would be removed from the singles’ list quickly.
Match format
It’s the « D » format of the French Tennis Federation which is retained for each match. 2 winning sets of four games with decisive point at 40 all and tie-break at 4 games all.
Decisive point rule reminder: when 40 all, one point is disputed to win the game, the raiser choosing the side on which the service will be conducted.
By taking account the match format, it is possible to play three singles matches in a day.
